Peachy Keen

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Zara

Omg, shoes.

So I have this weird obsession with bodysuits, it could be because they're basically leotards and I don't know if I've mentioned it before but I'm a dancer.  I got this bodysuit back in May from F21, I acutally score two that day, my friends had to persuade me not to buy more.  I especially like them because they create clean lines, I'm all about clean lines.  It didn't hurt that top was under $10.  The skirt is also from F21, I got it a while ago when I ordered way too much online.  I think it was also under $10, can't beat that for a black skirt, not that I don't own nearly 10 black skirts.  I initially wanted to pair this top with something lighter but I decided to try it with the black skirt just because.  I ended up liking the contrast between the dark and the light.  On to the feet, I got these shoes from Zara in my recent overindulgent online shopping spree, a post about my finds is soon to follow.  Can you believe that these babies were only $19.99, I couldn't believe it and I had to have them, okay I probably didn't HAVE to have them but in my world I did.  They're quite tall, even for me but nothing I can't handle.  The platform is super comfy, the only thing is that my toes went a little numb from time to time but that actually happens all the time, I should probably get that checked out.  Really, you can't lose with a look like this, I'm just all about the lines, makes me feel slim and that's important in my book.  I'm crazy like that, sue me.

We've Got Company

Okay, so this post isn't really about style or an outfit, it's just an update on my life.  I recently auditioned for a Modern/Ballet dance company and I got a company position.  It's an unbelievable experience and I am so humbled, I have been dancing my entire life and after college I was worried I wouldn't get to dance as much. I decided that I wanted to dance, had to dance, so I've been auditioning and training all summer.  I've been eating extra healthy and being extra neurotic, it has payed off.  I'm so excited to learn and perform, like more excited than a normal person.  I sign my contract this week and things become official, I also have my first rehearsal tomorrow, amazing.  If you're in the Memphis area or want to visit in September, I'll be having my first show, I'll be keeping everyone posted.  I can't wait to start this journey.

That's me in ze middle, it's from the Hendrix Dance Ensemble Spring Concert, 2012

Maxxed Out

So I like wearing maxis on Fridays, it's my way of going casual but not too casual.  I can't recall when I got this dress, maybe at the very beginning of the summer, it was only $9.99 from Ross and I was in love with the pattern as soon as I saw it.  It's been sitting in my closet for way too long but I finally got around to wearing it.  Since I work in a boring office that doesn't appreciate fashion I had to wear a sweater but that's okay, it's super cold in there.  I shouldn't make these posts when I get off on Fridays, I get super lazy and the sleeping pills kick in. Blah, blah, blah.  I also have Ballet in the morning and I'm so sore so I don't know how that's actually going to happen.

Excuse my face, I didn't put on any makeup, not even mascara

Tulips

Trying to bring sexy back. Get it?

Dress: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Zara

Okay, so I don't actually know what kind of flowers are on this dress but I do know that I love it.  I scored this beauty on the last Urban trip, the day I bought too much stuff.  Allison actually got it first and then I realized how much I loved it, I also realized that it was only $13 and well since it was originally $69 there was no doubt that I had to have it.  I love the length and cut of the dress, so lady-like and fun.  It's just one of those items that I just love so much that I don't have a lot to say about it.  But I will say that the back of the dress has my heart, I love anything with a fun back, it's my weakness.  Unfortunately since I was going to work I had to throw on my red cardigan so no one got to enjoy the fun back.  My new navy sandals from Zara complemented the look very well, they matched the navy in the dress and were less harsh than a black shoe would have been.

Holy Slit

It's Thursday! You know what that means?  I get to wear whatever I want, holla! Soo, I chose to wear this skirt that I definitely couldn't wear to work.  I think the slit would scandalize a few people. Blah, blah, blah.  I   had a few errands to run so this was the perfect low key outfit.  I bought this skirt way too long ago, I should probably be ashamed that this is the first time I'm wearing it.  Oh well, it's from NY & Company, and I got it for $6.99.  The price was unbeatable, however I must admit that I initially tried it on as a dress.  I guess it could work as a dress, it did when I tried it on, maybe I'll get risky one day and wear it as a dress.  This skirt just made me want to be by the pool or at the beach.  Since the skirt spoke for itself, I decided to keep everything else simple, not to mention I was a little sleepy today.  I also wasn't wearing any makeup, get real, like I was going to put that on.  This is a short post, so sue me.

I can't believe my hair was cooperating today, it was greatly appreciated.

Here's a bonus, I went to dance earlier tonight.  I like to wear a crazy mix of things for dance, I think most dancers do.  Check out the floral socks and the gold kicks.  Get like me.

The Chambray Tales

Had to tie the top because otherwise it would have been too long and that just wouldn't work

Have you noticed that I love pink?

Top: Old Navy | Dress: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Express

Salvete, that's Latin for "Hello." More specifically it's how you great a group of people.  I'm a nerd and I'm not ashamed, 6 years of Latin! Anywho, on to the outfit.  It took me a while to put this outfit together but I think it turned out nicely.  I knew I wanted to pair the dress with the shoes, but that was a no brainer.  The top was the tricky part, the straps on the dress are too skinny for me to wear to work, so I had to figure out how to make this office-appropriate.  In my mind I pictured this dress with a denim jacket but I have yet to find one that I love, so I chose the next best thing.  I love this chambray shirt, I got it months and months ago from Old Navy, it was about $17 and I wore it quite a few times last Fall/Winter.  I always wore it with my black jeggings and riding boots so it was hard for me to see this top with something so bright and summery.  But I think I like this pairing more than I would have liked the denim jacket with it, the jacket would have probably been too heavy and there is nothing about this dress.  I love the cut, it moves quite nicely.  I got this lovely little number from Urban Outfitters around the beginning of the summer, Allison and I went and that day I scored six dresses for a little under $100.  I'd just gotten paid for the first time at my new job so I was all "YOLO."  I have no regrets from that day.  Back to the dress, it was only $9.99, before I tried it on I thought it was just a simple tank dress but I quickly learned that it was way more than that.  And down to the shoes, I wore these in another post, I got them from Express for under $20.  They're super comfortable, as good wedge should be.  I absolutely love the color combo.  All in all this was a super summery outfit, I felt really fun and flirty.  The many compliments I got at work didn't hurt either.

Flamingo Dancer

Sunday's outfits get two audiences, my wonderful church family and the peeps at work.  I'm always so tired on Saturdays and Sundays so I always pick something that requires very little thought.  This dress was a no-brainer.  It's from the Webster for Target Collection and I've mentioned how much I love that collection.  This dress is great, the color, cut and fabric are perfect.  It looks great, fits great, and moves great.  It's one of those dresses that moves with you and what more could you ask for?  As the post suggests, there are flamingos on the dress, they're super cute and surprisingly subtle.  I decided to wear a pair of shoes that I don't wear much but should definitely wear more often.  They're Franco Fortini, super cute and super comfortable.  I paired them with this dress because they're relatively close to my skin tone so they don't distract from the dress.  Okay, I'm lazy and my sleeping pills are kicking in, plus there's not much to say about this outfit.  It just worked.  Night world.  Also I am very aware that the style of dance is "Flamenco,"
just trying to be punny.

I like that the sole is teal

I like the way the back is cut, like a lot.

Fresh Crops

Top: Urban Outfitters | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Target

Saturday called for a crop top! Allison and I went on our usual shopping date and since it was Tax Free Weekend it was super romantic.  I'll make a post about all the goodies I got later on, it'll be worth the read!
I bought this cute little crop top a few weekends ago when Annie was in town, we hit up Urban Outfitters and I spotted this little guy.  I have a big thing for crop tops, I'm not quite brave enough to wear them with a lot of my tummy showing but I think they're super cute with something high-waisted.  The back of the top makes it even cuter, I love something with a fancy back.  The skirt is also from Urban, yes it's the one I wore the day before, sue me.  My mom said she didn't think I looked very comfortable but I actually was, despite the fact that the skirt was making me extra hot in the sweltering sun.

Lazy Friday

So, I've mentioned that I get super lazy on Fridays, I just can't help it.  I'm at work for the normal 8 hours on Friday but it always feels like so much longer on Fridays, for some reason it feels as if I'm camping out there for the night.  Weird.  I wanted to wear something super comfy but I didn't want to be too much of a bum.  I knew I wanted to wear my black maxi skirt that I got from Urban Outfitters for only $5.00, it was on sale for $10.00 back in the day and then there was an additional 50% off, I'm just so good at shopping.  Took me a while to figure out what the top was going to be, decided on this flowy number to add to the comfort factor.  I got this top from F21 last summer while in Atlanta, it was a good buy.  I put on a black tee underneath, there's some rule about showing undergarments at the workplace.  Who knew?  I struggled and made my way to work, not looking too shabby if I must say so myself.  Now it's almost 4:00 a.m. and I'm on my last post, I should be asleep because I have a Ballet in the morning.  P.S. Are any of you concerned with the amount of black and pink I wear? Nahhh!

This was another BB Cream day, I love how fresh it makes my skin look.

This skirt makes me look and feel like a mermaid

Happy Friday, to bed I go!

Out of Dress Code

I get two days out of the week when I get to wear whatever I want.  So on Thursdays and Saturdays I try to wear things that I couldn't wear to work, that doesn't mean that I'm wearing daisy dukes or scandalous items, it just means I get to wear my shorts, short skirts, strapless dresses, rompers, those things.  On this lovely Thursday I went to see Beasts of the Southern Wild with my old friend Sankalp, let me just take a moment to rave about this movie.  It was UNBELIEVABLE.  One of the greatest movies I've ever seen, no joke.  I can't even explain it, you MUST go see it, it made me cry and it gave me chills.  On top of all that, it made me smile and laugh.  You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't see it at least once.  Okay, I'm done.  I decided to throw on this cute pink top that I'd actually  thought I'd lost for a couple of months now, I found it in Andrea's room the other day, I was ecstatic.  It's one of my favorite shirts, mainly because it's comfy and cute.  I got this skirt at the last Urban Outfitters shopping spree, it was on sale for $9.99 and add that additional 30% off and it was yet another piece that I got for $6.99.  I like clothes that remind me of dance clothes and this skirt makes me feel like a total dancer, although it probably doesn't hurt that I am.  Let's talk about something serious.  This bag is something serious, I'd been eyeing it at Urban for a few weeks but I was not impressed with the $69.00 price tag so I waited it out.  I was admiring it and talking about how I didn't care for the price tag when I looked up and saw that it was on sale for $49.00, it was a sign that I couldn't ignore.  I was in desperate need of a new black bag and this was the perfect one, it's pretty nice for faux leather, I'm no fan of that cheap looking junk.  I have a feeling that this bag and I will be together for a while. Threw on my little black sandals from the kids' department at Target and got Andrea to re-do my braids.  After the movie I made it back in time to perform my civic duty and vote, such a great feeling.  Don't get me started.  After that, I met up with Deveney at Target and I'd just like to tell the world that I saw a lot of things that I could have bought but I didn't buy any of them.  I can't really brag because I just planned on waiting until pay day.  We grabbed some fro yo, well I grabbed some and then I headed home and went to bed like an old person.

Who wears short skirts?

I'm in Miami

I felt like a snazzy little business lady

Still can't believe I got these for $9.99

Dress: The Webster for Target | Shoes: Zara

Okay, so the name of this post is misleading.  In fact, I was not in Miami, I wish.  The closest I'll get to Miami these days is this dress and the two other dresses I've gotten from Webster for Target Collection.  I was obsessed with the collection as soon as it was released.  Being the smart shopper that I am, I decided to wait for a while until I purchased something.  It was hard to pass up all of the cute stuff for a few weeks until it went on sale.  This was the first thing that I got on sale, it was still $27.99 when I bought it, I think it was only 30% off of the original price but I just didn't care.  It was the only one left in my size and I didn't want to miss out on this dress.  I was originally going to pair it with some tan pumps but Wednesday was my lucky day, as I was getting ready for work my mom walked in with a package.  It was a big box wrapped in blue plastic, I knew it was from Zara.  About a week earlier I found these shoes for only $9.99, I was beyond ecstatic and did not hesitate one minute to press "add to cart."  When I ordered them I actually couldn't tell whether they were navy or black, so glad they were navy.  I threw them on with this dress and they worked so perfectly together.  I was looking pretty fly, except Andrea and I both decided that my hair was less than impressive that day.  So, being the good little sister that she is, she gave me my two signature braids to complete the look.  I love wearing my hair like this, it just looks so polished.

Bunhead

When all else fails, go back to your roots.  My roots are pink, black, sparkly, and covered in tulle.  If you don't know by now, I'm a dancer, always have been, always will be.  And while I don't do nearly as much ballet as I used to, it's still my first love. Don't tell Modern dance, we're currently going steady and I don't want her to get jealous of Ballet.  I got this skirt from F21 a week or so ago, I went there to exchange a dress that Andrea got for me in Nashville. Yes, I have people shop for me in other cities.  Unfortunately that dress didn't fit, it was a small and let's be serious, I'm at least a Smedium, for some reason they have yet to make that an actual size.  But since you can't get your money back at F21, I just had to get a store credit, not like that was a problem.  I've said it time and time again that if I'm going to shop at F21, I'd rather do it online, the store can be so trendy and overwhelming.  But I stumbled upon this gem and well of course I can't resist anything that reminds me of a tutu, it didn't hurt that it was under $20.  I paired it with a black top from Target that I got for under $10, my friends and I named it the "accidental crop top" because I didn't realize it was a crop top until I was wearing it and it kept coming up every time I lifted my arms.  Luckily I found this out on a Friday night instead one random day in class.  Since the rest of the outfit was super girly, I decided to wear these strappy Nine West shoes to add a little edge to the look.  I think it worked, kept me from looking like a 6 year old at my first recital.  There was no question that I'd be wearing my hair in a bun, besides it being the universal hairstyle for dancers it's my favorite.  Don't know why but I just like the way my face looks when my hair is out of my face.  I swiped on some BB Cream, a dab of pink eye shadow, a little eye liner, mascara, and a hint of blush.  It was more makeup than I usually wear during the day but I felt like getting all dolled up.

Look at those lovely ballet slippers on that necklace

All Tied Up

My hair was playing nice today too, major plus.

Top: Urban Outfitters | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: BCBG

I decided to start Monday off right and wear some of the goodies I got from Urban Outfitters last weekend. I took advantage of their extra 30% off sale items.  This was the second weekend that I took advantage of that sale, inappropriate but not really.  Allison and I went after a lovely brunch at Cafe Eclectic, I splurged and had some carbs, a delicious waffle. Sidenote...now I sound like one of those people who says they "splurged" on carbs, who am I?  While I'm figuring that out, let's get back to business.  Allison and I did some of our best shopping this day, only rival to the day we got multiple dresses there for $10.  This time I got a lot of clothes and Allison got an interesting mix of plants and clothes, I should have her do a guest post to explain her plants to clothes ratio.  Anyway, I got some obnoxiously great deals, like this top for instance, it was originally $75.00, it had been marked down a couple of times to $19.99, then I got an additional 30% off.  That means that I got that shirt for under $14.  I was drawn to this shirt because it looks like a shirt my grandma would have had, it's just so delicate and pretty.  I hadn't intended on tying a knot in the front but Allison and I noticed that someone else had done just that so I decided to give it a try, great decision.  On to the skirt, I also got it at Urban; it was originally $45, then marked down to $9.99, now add the 30% off, another great steal for only $6.99.  We actually found this skirt as we were headed to the checkout, I ran to try it on and I instantly fell in love.  It's a great length for work but the fit and the slit add a bit of sass, which is a must for me.  The shoes are an all time favorite, I've had them since high school, and they're still in great shape.  They're BCBG and they are just so yummy, my dad actually suggested that I get these because I asked for a pair of flats but he said that I needed heels since I was so short.  No argument there.  They paired well with the outfit because they give off the retro vibe and they're simple enough that they don't distract from the outfit.

Polish on Polish on Polish (Sinful Colors Haul)

Colors from Left to Right: Savage, Energetic Red, Slate, Island Coral, Rain Storm, and Clear Coat.

I have an unnatural obsession with nail polish, people know that if they need a color, I probably have it.  Last Saturday I was out with Allison, already spending way too much money at Urban Outfitters when my mom called to tell me that Sinful Colors were on sale at Walgreen's for a whopping 0.99, they're normally only $1.99.  Of course I had to go pick up whatever colors I didn't already own (it was hard to find some.)  I managed to pick up these beauties and I'm super pleased.  I'm wearing Energetic Red right now, should have taken a picture, my bad! Sinful Colors is my favorite polish right next to Essie, the formula is unbelievable especially for the price, I even like their polish more than OPI. Yup, I said it.  If you haven't tried Sinful Colors, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle or two, you won't regret it.  I'd know, I'm a nail polish snob.  I even decided to try their top coat, I like it a billion times more than the China Glaze top coat I've been using.

Wearing Energetic Red on my fingers and Island Coral on my piggies, loving both.
