One Dress, Two Ways

Dress: Target | Bag: Target | Shoes: Calvin Klein | Watch: Target | Necklace: River Island

Over the last few years I've really learned to love a good maxi dress.  While I once feared that they would consume my short stature, I now know that the right one can actually elongate my less than statuesque frame.  While roaming around the aisles at Target, I happened upon this lovely dress which also happened to be on clearance.  It was really a no-brainer.  I was pleased to find that it wasn't terribly long, nothing a pair of heels wouldn't fix.  I sported a pair of my favorite pumps to church but decided to throw on a pair of kicks for an evening of hanging out with my friends.  I've gone through a few periods in my life when I thought wearing tennis shoes just wasn't fashionable and wouldn't be caught dead in them, and there have been other times when it seems I have an abundance of the comfortable alternative.  I am currently in the latter phase and honestly, I love giving my feet a break from time to time.  Don't get me wrong, of course I still love my platforms and stilettos but sometimes I have to show my feet some love.

Invested

Vest: Made by my mom | Top: Old Navy | Pants: Gap | Bracelet: BCBG | Rings: ASOS | Bag: Kate Spade | Shoes: Calvin Klein

Last week I tried on a faux fur vest and the store only had extra smalls left. That obviously wasn't going to work. As I lamented over the vest, my mom suggested that she might be able to make one. Since she's a super talented seamstress, she crafted this beauty and I love it! I'm excited to see what I can pair this animal-friendly and budget-friendly piece of clothing with. I am currently trying to coax her into starting up a little business, so if you're interested in purchasing one of these babies, let me know.

Sunday Brights

Top: Prabal Gurung for Target | Bottoms: Gap | Bag: Kate Spade | Shoes: Calvin Klein

Every year when it starts to get cold I fall into a bit of a rut. I have mentioned ad nauseum how much I love Spring and Summer and I just don't love Fall and Winter. I always struggle to find a balance between staying warm and looking like a real person, the former usually wins and I end up looking questionable. I'm making a valiant effort to look more like a real person this Winter, we'll see how that plays out. I still love this Prabal Gurung for Target sweatshirt and I'm so happy that I got my hands on it last year!

Pleated Promises

Dress: Kirna Zabate for Target | Shoes: Calvin Klein | Bag: Kate Spade | Bracelets: BCBG, Five and Two | Watch: Timex | Rings: J.Crew, F21

This dress has been hanging out in my closet for an ungodly amount of time, it's like I have been saving it for something. It's been ages since Kirna Zabate and Target collaborated, which was a collection I really liked. When I snagged this dress on one of my random Target trips, I was surprised and elated to get it for 70% off, which in my book made it practically free. The floor sweeping maxi just felt so glamorous, and the fabric and pleats were perfect. If you're a shorty like I am, don't be afraid of maxi dresses, with the right one and the right footwear, you can actually appear taller. I'll be on the hunt for similar dresses, this one is definitely a closet favorite.

Crochet Chronicles

Dress: WISH (Memphis) | Shoes: Calvin Klein | Necklace: Kate Spade | Bracelets: Five and Two

I'm still holding onto the remnants of Summer, Spring and Summer are my absolute favorite times of the year. I just don't like being cold, and I know Fall in the South isn't too bad but I still prefer more warmth. I figured this piece would be a nice transition into cooler weather. Yesterday I revealed on Facebook that I'm not Fall's biggest fan, I was prepared for the backlash from my friends. Perhaps I don't like Fall because I tend to get strep way more than usual during that time of year. Maybe someone can convince me why Fall is so amazing. I'm waiting. Well, I guess my birthday is pretty cool. But other than that, I'm waiting.

K.I.S.S.

Top: Zara |  Belt: Zara |  Jeans: Urban Outfitters, same style different color |  Shoes: Calvin Klein
Bracelets: J.Crew

I haven't made a blog post in a ridiculously long time, my sisters have been away at school and out of the country so it's been kinda hit and miss when I could get a decent picture.  But thanks to the help of my sister, we've revamped the blog a bit and hopefully I can get some more consistent posts.  Thanks for reading!
