Sporty Chic

Top: Target | Bottoms: Express, similar here and here | Shoes: Prabal Gurung for Target | Bag: Steve Madden | Sunglasses: Kate Spade, similar | Necklace: Kate Spade | Earrings: Kate Spade | Bracelets: J.Crew, Five and Two

I think I went a little crazy when I found these pants in Express, ask my best friend. I like the idea of making sporty pieces look more polished, it's one of those things that seem like a no-brainer and it really is hard to do it wrong. Also, I still haven't decided about the "white after Labor Day rule." Ultimately I don't think I care, but I do realize that it seems as if I'm cramming these in right before the holiday. Whatevs. Are you into the sporty chic look? What are your thoughts on the whole White after Labor Day Debate? Weigh in!

Mint Condition

Top: Urban Outfitters,similar |Skirt: Urban Outfitters,similar |Shoes: Tahari

This shirt is actually a crop top but worn with the right bottoms, I can get away with wearing it to work. love crop tops, I think they look best with a high waisted bottom of some type whether that's a skirt, jeans, or shorts.  It's fun just to have just a sliver of tummy showing. Anyone love crop tops as much as I do?

P.S I LOVE these mint shoes!

Top 10 under $10

When I first really started wearing makeup I almost exclusively shopped at Sephora. I was in high school then, so I'm not so sure how I managed to fund my habit. I think drugstore brands have been making a serious effort to be more competitive with high end brands and most are achieving this goal. As a junkie, it's comforting to know that I can try out products without necessarily breaking the bank. Here's a few of my favorite beauty products that are under $10 but give you a lot of bang for your buck. Most of them can be found in store or online at : Target, Ulta, Walgreens, and Walmart

1) Revlon Photo Ready Foundation-Cost $10 depending on where you purchase it. Why I like it: Great formula for a great price, has lasting power comparable to a high end foundation.

2) NYX Round Case Lipstick- Cost $3.00 Why I like it: Now I love MAC lipsticks but I can't drop $15 every time I want a new shade, it's just not feasible for me. NYX provides an alternative that is way less expensive, and I think the quality is on par with MAC. I have so many shades of this lipstick, my favorite right now is Chloe.

3) Boots Expert Shine Control Moisturizer- Cost: $6.29 Why I like it: You get a lot of product for such a low price. This moisturizer is ideal for those with oily skin, it provides moisture without feeling tacky or goopy and it provides hydration without drowning the skin.

4) Real Techniques Expert Face Brush- Cost: $9.00 Why I like it: If you're looking for a multipurpose brush, look no more. I use this brush to apply foundation or tinted moisturizer when I want to achieve a full coverage look; I also use it to blend in my concealer. It's also great for blending in cream blushes or touch-ups throughout the day. The handle is so easy to hold and the flat bottom allows you to stand it up on counter top.

5) Tresseme Dry Shampoo- Cost $4.49 Why I like it: In high school I first tried the Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo which was a solid $18, after a few weeks my 3 year old cousin sprayed most of it onto my floor. I obviously wasn't pleased. This much less expensive version does the same tricks and I don't have to cry a thousand tiny tears if one of my baby friends gets their hands on it. This definitely helps when my hair is flat, smelly, and too oily, when I'm in between washes. It's especially nice since I have rehearsal three times a week.

6) Voluminous False Fiber Lashes- Cost $9.00 Why I like it: I've been wearing this mascara for a few years and it has yet to disappoint me. My lashes are average length and already curled but this mascara takes things to a new level. The little fibers make my lashes look super long without making them feel stiff and hard.

7) East Hampton Cottage- Cost $8.00 Why I like it: Essie is one of my favorite nail polish brands, their formula and color selection rarely disappoint. Their sheer and neutral shades are my favorite, they're all so beautiful. My friend and I say that East Hampton Cottage is "the wedding color," I actually wore it in the last wedding I was in, and I think it was lovely.

8) Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lotion-Cost $8.00 Why I like it: This lotion is super thick and luxurious and makes my skin feel soft and hydrated. My brown skinned ladies might especially like this lotion, since it's filled with cocoa butter.

9) Chapstick-Cost $1.69 or less Why I like it: This may be my favorite beauty product even though it might be the least expensive, the smallest, and the most simple. I am a Chapstick fiend, I am not one of those people who can use any lip balm, I have to use Chapstick. For a while I was a fan of Soft Lips but I'm back to being a Chapstick girl. At any given time I have about 3 or 4 of these hanging around, either in my room, purse, or car. Just the mere thought of dry lips makes my flesh crawl so if I'm ever without one, I find my way to a store to purchase one. If I'm in a bind, I'll use it to smooth out crazy eyebrows or tame a flyaway.

10) Up & Up Cleansing Acne Treatment- Cost $3.99 Why I like it: My skin is rather agreeable, despite its oily disposition so I never really had a major problem with massive breakouts. I am not exempt from pimple, although I wish I could be. This spot treatment helps me target the occasional skin invasion.

So there are a few of my favorite drugstore products that are under $10. What drugstore products are staples in your routine?

Go Bright or Go Home

Dress: WISH | Shoes: Zara | Necklace: Vince Camuto

I have an undying love for shift dresses, they are so comfortable and so easy to wear. These days it seems that I also have an undying love for bright colors. I found this dress in a cute little store in the Cooper Young area of Memphis, called WISH. I hope the ladies in there like me because they're going to be seeing me quite a bit, if you live in Memphis, you should definitely pay them a visit. These blue platform sandals are amazing, they're beautiful and comfortable, what more could a girl want?

Chambray, Chambray, Chambray

Top: JCP | Skirt: Ann Taylor | Shoes: Zara | Sunglasses: Kate Spade Necklace: Old Navy | Rings: J. Crew, F21 | Bracelets: J.Crew

My mom recently asked me about the number of chambray shirts I own. I unashamedly own quite a few, I think four to be exact but I'm losing count. Chambray shirts are so remarkably versatile, they can literally be paired with anything and they're so comfortable. I love this pullover style, I have it in a lighter wash and I am constantly reaching for this classic button-up. Also, these Zara heels are one of my  favorite pairs of shoes, I got them during last season's Spring/Summer sale for $9.99. Talk about a steal.

P.S. The tripod and I got along today, so enjoy the 30 billion shots.

Chiffon and Lace

Top: Target | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Target | Necklace: J.Crew | Bracelets: J.Crew | Rings: J.Crew, F21

Lately I've been all about being comfortable but still looking polished and put together. But it's not like that's some fashion secret, I'm sure that's what most people aim for when getting dressed. Since I've been trying to shop my closet, I've had fun mixing and matching pieces. The ballerina in me still loves the combination of black and pink, I probably always will.

I'm With The Band

T-Shirt: Cold War Kids | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Nine West | Bag: Kate Spade

Over the years I have collected quite a few concert t-shirts and in college I wore them all the time.  I've noticed that I haven't been wearing them much lately, not even on weekends or to rehearsal.  I decided to wear one of my favorite pieces of memorabilia; I got this shirt at my second Cold War Kids concert, I've been to three total.  Yes, I've seen them three times, the first was at Hendrix and the second two times were in Memphis.  I absolutely love The Cold War Kids, it may sound weird but I can feel their music in my soul. This was also my first day using the tripod again, there's definitely a learning curve but I'm working on it.

Ice, Ice, Baby

Dress: Forever 21 | Shoes: Aldo | Necklace: Prabal Gurung for Target | Bag: Urban Outfitters | Bracelets: J.Crew | Earrings: Kate Spade

I'm kind of in love with the whole lucite trend, especially when it comes to jewelry and shoes. I meandered into Aldo this weekend and these shoes instantly caught my attention, not to mention there was an extra 30% off the sale price.  Before I even payed for them, I was already creating looks in my head.  I decided to let the shoes and the necklace speak for themselves and opt for a little black dress.  This was a simple yet fun look that I love!  Have you tried the lucite trend?

Leopard Print

Top: Zara | Jeans: BDG, Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Antoni Melani | Bag: Kate Spade

I bet you thought there was going to be some leopard print in this post, well there's not.  It's just a print OF a leopard, which is just as cool if you ask me.  The Zara Spring/Summer sale is still in full swing and prices keep dropping.  Lately I've been a sucker for fun t-shirts, it's so easy to dress them up or down.  Since it's Friday I opted for an easy-going but still pulled together look, it's the end of the week, gotta go out with a bang.  Also, these shoes are sparkly and wonderful, it's easy for them to look quite dressy but pairing them with jeans and a t-shirt made me feel like a more comfortable version of Cinderella.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, thanks for reading.

Borrowed and Blue

Top: J.Crew | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Zara | Bag: Steve Madden | Necklace: Gigglosophy
Bracelets: J.Crew, Kate Spade, Five and Two

I always knew I would find the perfect boyfriend jeans before the actual boyfriend.  Go figure.  I'm a big fan of these jeans so I think I'll be alright for the time being.  I spotted this shirt in the Men's department of J.Crew and I knew it would be the beginning of a long relationship.  Remember when you never would have imagined shopping for boy clothes?  I know my 12 year old self would have scoffed at the thought, but now I love finding pieces like this shirt.  It's so easy to add some feminine flair by putting on some lipstick and strappy heels, it's really a no-brianer when it comes to getting dressed.

Casual Monday

Dress: Target | Belt: J.Crew | Shoes: Kimchi Blue, Urban Outfitters | Bag: Steve Madden | Necklace: Bauble Bar | Earrings: Kate Spade| Bracelets: J.Crew

In college I would always say, "it's almost Friday," even on Mondays.  I was always looking for the weekend; things are no different now, except I usually want to sleep the entire weekend.  I woke up thinking "it's almost Friday," or at least I was wishing.  Since, I somehow ended up turning off my alarms (inappropriate), I was very glad that that I'd picked out something cool and casual to wear, nothing that required a lot of fuss.  Also, I tried but couldn't resist this bag; I've been loving the neutral & neon trend and this is my first buy that combines the two palettes.  I like it because it's on trend but still has some classic elements.

A Little Lace

Dress: ASOS | Shoes: Nicole Miller | Bracelets: FIVE AND TWO

I have had this dress for a very long time, I believe I ordered it in November and somehow I'm just now getting around to wearing it, what a shame.  I have a love affair with shift dresses, they’re the perfect shape and ridiculously comfortable.

Check out my sister's traditional garb that she got while in Senegal for nine weeks.
