Urban Cowgirl

What up people?!?! I think I woke up late this day, as per usual so I threw on some basics! I love this chambray top from Old Navy, got it for $17, what a steal.  The skirt if from Forever 21, I'm a big fan of their basic items, some of their other stuff is too flashy for me.  The best part of the get up is the boots.  I scored them from Bakers.com for only $20, they were originally $120 but I managed to check my email on my lucky day to get such a deal, I couldn't resist real suede for $20, that's illegal.  I must also add that Bakers might have the best/speediest service ever not only did the boots ship for free they also got to me within 2 days of ordering them, I ordered them at like 4 a.m. on a Thursday, got the shipping confirmation email on Friday morning, and got the boots Saturday morning.  You can't beat that kind of service!

The next few shots are just to show you how weird I am

Shorty

I've finally made friends in Memphis, thank goodness, I was so bored and always missing Hendrix.  And although I still miss it dearly, my new work friends and I have been going to do Karaoke on Thursday nights, now it can't beat the nights at ZaZa but I'm not sure anything ever could.  Since I can't wear shorts to work, how lame, I pretty much always wear them on my off days.  I love shorts, maybe because I love my legs thanks to all that dancing and cheering I grew up doing!  I love these shorts, they're rather dressy, I got them from Gap a few years ago for under $20, which is basically free, I love the little bow purse which is also from Gap and under $20  The top is from Target of course and I bought it for under $10, the shoes are from Target as well and I got them for $16.  BOOM! I'm a deal machine and I can't be stopped!  The red lipstick I'm wearing is one of my absolute favorites, it's made by NYX and I wish I could think of the name but I have recently lost it and I'm going through terrible separation anxiety, if I don't find it soon I will be at the nearest Ulta dropping some dough.  Now I'm all sad thinking about the missing lipstick, I have a suspicion that my 2 year old best friend at church stole it, she did have her tiny hands in my purse on Sunday and did get out/put on her favorite lip gloss.  I'm launching a full blown investigation.

Skirting the Issue

Good day beautiful people, it's starting to cool down here in Memphis but I'm still holding onto the remnants of Spring and Summer, my favorite seasons.  So as it cools down I'll be the clown strutting around in bright colors and bare legs, but in my defense I try to make them more "Fall appropriate," that's what I was going for by wearing the denim jacket in this look, I think it worked.  There's nothing fancy about this outfit, just some nice pieces having a good time together.  I had been searching for a denim jacket forever since I realized that they're in again, I ordered one from Zara but it was the wrong size and I had to send it back only to find out they were out of stock :(  I was a sad jacket-less puppy until I found this cutie in the kid's section at Target, it was only $24.99 and since I have a Target debit card I got an additional 5% off, not too shabby.  It's a great fit, it's actually a little roomy, must be all the spinach I eat these days.  The lovely yellow skirt is from ASOS, I got it for only $16 which is practically free for such a nice item; my only complaint about the skirt is that it is not very easy to maneuver in, I have to be very careful not to rip the split since it is a serious pencil skirt!  I threw on a white tank and my cute little almost-flesh colored Franco Sarto sandals and called it a day.  By this look I had gotten a little better at using the tripod, I'm still working on it!

Black Mamba

Hello lovely people! It's been a while since I've posted something, I was camera-less for a while but I finally got a new one thanks to Canon!  I was also photographer-less since my sisters are out of town at school and my mom and I have opposite schedules, but my dad is a photographer and he loaned me one of his tripods.  So, I'm back in business!  Of course I've been catching some amazing steals while I've been away, the shopping never stops for me, it probably should at some point.  Anywho, I decided to kick off the week with  this saucy little snake print skirt (hence the Black Mamba reference).  I scored this gem from Target for only $13, how could I pass up such a deal, it's a classic style with a funky twist.  Since the skirt speaks for itself and I'm all about simplicity, I just paired it with my favorite black shirt that I also scored from Target, I also have this shirt in pink and green, I'm just a little obsessed.  On to the shoes!  When I was a kid/tween I didn't really care for JCPenney, maybe it's because my dad always took us there with his coupons and shopping with your father is always a chore.  It's funny to think that I always wondered why he had to use coupons, of course he used them, he had three girls! But now I am a big lover of coupons and use them all the time.  Back to JCPenney...that's where I got these amazingly chunky heels.  I think I originally stopped in the store because there's a Sephora inside but me being me, I managed to make my way around the entire store.  While in the shoe department I spotted these and had to try them on, at first they kinda looked like every other black sandal that I own but once I put them on it was different.  They are so chunky, yet they don't look bulky, they actually make my legs look longer.  The $24.99 price tag sealed the deal and these babies and I have been in love ever since.  Once I put on one of my favorite shades of lipstick I was good to go!

The pictures aren't superb but it was my first day with the tripod, I think they get better

I also went to see Band of Horses this night with one of my musical soul mates Ellie Casalman, it was a lovely concert and I was so happy to be reunited with that girl!

What's up Buttercup?

Top: Target | Skirt: ASOS | Shoes: Target

I don't really know if this skirt is considered to be more of a buttercup or canary yellow, but I came up with this title days ago so I'm sticking with it.  Once again I stayed up too late on a Saturday night and neglected to pick out my clothes for church and work.  Luckily my mom came into my room to wake me up and upon rolling over I told her that I didn't have anything to wear.  For some reason she thought that statement was ridiculous, I don't know why.  But she strolled over to my closet and picked out this skirt from ASOS that I hadn't worn yet and this black top that goes with everything.  I kinda wish she did this all the time, it would make my life a little easier and every little bit counts.  I felt very bright and happy in this skirt but I must admit that it's not the best pencil skirt for driving but I need a chauffeur  anyway.  These shoes are the bomb.com, super sassy and super comfy and from Target of course.  It was no surprise that my mom picked these, I think they're her favorites.  Also, I don't know when or why the font changed, or how to get it back to normal.  This is why one shouldn't blog at 3 in the morning.  I also learned that the eyeshadow I'm wearing is some type of boy magnet, it's a pink shade but for some reason they can't tell what color it is, they think it's blue but for whatever reason they really like it.  I also really like my hair like this.  That is all.

Peplum

Top: ASOS | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: BCBG

I have been obsessed with all things peplum for quite some time but I actually just made my first peplum purchase a few weeks ago, say "peplum purchase" five times fast.  I got this pretty little thing from ASOS, I spend way too much time and money on that site.  It was a steal, only $15, can't beat that.  I felt as if this was a safe way for me to ease into the trend and it's a versatile piece so there wasn't really much thought.  I will skip the skirt, if you've ever read any of the posts you'll know why, hahaha!  These are some of my favorite BCBG shoes, love the peep-toe and the gold accents, plus they're comfy.  I felt very old school in this outfit, in a good way.  I decided that if I had to work on Labor Day I might as well do it in style.  I also added to the housewife look by toting a dozen key lime pie cupcakes into work, I'm basically the perfect woman and I don't know how I'm single. I kid, I kid.  I was also wearing cupcake earrings, so I pretty much had a cupcake-tastic day.
Gots to get my hands on more peplum

Hot Green

My favorite looks are those that require very little thought, I'm all about simplicity.  And with hot green shoes like these, I decided to let them do all the talking.  I rarely use the term neon, I like to refer to colors as hot, some of my friends find this weird.  I'm weird so it works.  This black top is my new favorite, I got it from Target for only $5, it was a random find which makes it even better.  It is a dressy spin on a v-neck tee, which makes it super versatile, I have been wearing it an insane amount.  Speaking of things I wear too much, I am once again guilty of wearing this black pencil skirt from Urban.  I just can't help myself.  I decided this was a good day for a bun and bright pink lipstick, I'm a sucker for the combo.  Of course I had fun prancing around like Career Barbie.

How could you have a bad day in these?

Black is my favorite color, some people think that's weird

Sparkle and Shine

My photographer decided I had to do a plié

Top: The Main Attraction Boutique | Bottoms: Gap | Shoes: Ann Taylor

I decided to basically go big or go home with this look, I mean what else do you expect from me?  I got this sparkly top from a boutique in Downtown Memphis called The Main Attraction, I discovered it about a month ago and Alley Cat and I hit it up on our day-date downtown.  There was no way I was going to be able to resist this shirt, it has sequins, and tasteful sequins at that! I also love the color and the exposed zipper in the back, all the great trends without being a train wreck.  It was a major plus that it was on sale and I also got it for an additional something off, so I only paid like $26 for it.  That is what you call a steal.  The pants are the black pants that I wear way too much, just like that skirt, I just can't help it.  Everyone was rather shocked that I was wearing pants, they are every time I come in sans dress or skirt.  Let's take a moment to gaze at the shoes...I got them from Ann Taylor on one of my many shopping trips with Alley Cat (we do some serious damage together).  Kudos to her for spotting these for me, they were on sale and then there was an extra 40% off when you signed up for the emails! Hello!  I paid a little over $20 for these masterpieces that were originally $158, go ahead comment and tell me how much you hate me. I'll forgive you.  I felt like a unicorn that day, you couldn't miss me if you tried.

Pink Lady

I can't remember when I wore this, I just know it was weeks ago.  This was just an average day at work, not much back-story here.  I got this pink shirt from F21 when I ventured there to make an exchange.  The bright color caught my eye and the sheer fabric sealed the deal, the slight dip hem in the back didn't hurt either.  It was only $13 or so, not bad for such a lovely color.  The skirt I'm wearing is the infamous black skirt that I got from Urban, you know the one I probably wear too much, the one I wear almost once a week.  Whatever, sue me, I love this skirt.  It's comfortable, sleek, and black, and those are three of the best things a piece of clothing can be.  My shoes are the spicy little babies that I got in Atlanta last summer, I can never say enough great things about these shoes.  Okay, not much to be said here, I was walking around the office looking like a Barbie as per usual.

Excuse my bra strap, I don't know what I was thinking, maybe I was attempting to be "wild"

Shoes on Shoes on Shoes on Shoes on Shoes

This post is dedicated to the mini shopping spree I had last month on Zara.com, in the span of two days I managed to order five pairs of shoes.  Some people might judge me, I would just say that I'm very talented.  Why am I talented?  Because I did not spend over $80 on these five pairs and these are some nice shoes, so let's all take a moment an applaud my accomplishment.  I enjoyed giving these babies a photo shoot, with looks like these how could I not capture their beauty?  I'm crazy, whatever.

These bad boys are sexxay

Love the contrast, also very comfy

Very cute and girly

ABSOLUTELY love these

Lovely

There you go, a whole post dedicated to my new lovers

Night Out With The Homies

I have been slacking on the blog, I have so many posts that I need to post.  So let's get back to business.  A few Saturdays ago I went out to dinner with my best buds, my crew from high school.  These girls have been with me through thick and thin, we lived in the library together during our school days (nerdy I know)  I think we do a great job of staying in touch, it helps that most of us aren't too far from each other so we get to see each other during breaks.  It also helps that we're pretty much related, I guess two people are actually related. Whatever, this is supposed to be about clothes.  The top is the lovely little gem I scored at Urban Outfitters, the one that is so delicate and reminds me of something my grandma would wear.  I got the little bandage skirt from F21 for no more than $6, I bought it months and months ago but this was its first trip out.  The lovely shoes are from Zara, I got them when I accidentally bought five pairs of shoes in two days, whoops.  I absolutely love them, I also have them in black.  I'm also sporting a fairly new lip color, it's called Sweet Pink and it's by NYX, I absolutely love that it's matte.  I love NYX, their products are super pigmented which is a big plus with my complexion, the quality is great, and the products are super inexpensive.

Playing around

My weird friends, we were very sad that Audrey could not be with us on that lovely evening

LaRomper and Alley Cat's Day Out

Hello lovelies,

No, I didn't forget that I had a blog, it's just been pretty busy around these parts.  In the last three weeks, one sister  has journeyed back to Ohio for her third year at the College of Wooster and the other one is taking on Chicago for her first year at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  They're pretty smart but just look at their big sister, they got pretty lucky.  But really, I'm really proud of them and I even miss them, they were always here to take my blog pictures. JK, I miss them for real.  Anywho, this outfit was from a few weeks ago when my best friendly Allison and I had quite the adventurous day.  We went to Slave Haven, a wonderful museum here in Memphis, it was a very educational outing.  If you live in Memphis or are ever here, it's definitely worth visiting.  We spent the rest of the day wandering around Downtown, the weather was beyond perfect so we parked the car and roamed around South Main.  We hit up pretty much every boutique and found a few goodies.  We had dinner at a Chinese Buffet, it was our first time going to a buffet together, if you know how much we love food you'd be surprised.  After engorging ourselves on the food of our people we met up with our better halves, the Emelue sisters, we got so fro yo as usual.  Now to the outfit...what else would I, LaRomper, wear on a downtown adventure?  I love this romper, got it from ASOS a few months ago, guess how much it was.  It was only $10, how awesome is that?  It was actually a little big, I have been losing weight this summer so I'm having to re-learn some of my sizes, but that's a good problem to have.  Basically it was made for someone who is taller than five feet, which I am not, so I added the belt to cinch the waist and make it a little more height appropriate.  The tropical pattern is so beautiful and bright, goes great against my chocolately skin.  Since we were walking around all day I only had on my infamous black sandals, they provided me with lots of support for our day of museuming and shopping.

Together since 2007

Peachy Keen

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Zara

Omg, shoes.

So I have this weird obsession with bodysuits, it could be because they're basically leotards and I don't know if I've mentioned it before but I'm a dancer.  I got this bodysuit back in May from F21, I acutally score two that day, my friends had to persuade me not to buy more.  I especially like them because they create clean lines, I'm all about clean lines.  It didn't hurt that top was under $10.  The skirt is also from F21, I got it a while ago when I ordered way too much online.  I think it was also under $10, can't beat that for a black skirt, not that I don't own nearly 10 black skirts.  I initially wanted to pair this top with something lighter but I decided to try it with the black skirt just because.  I ended up liking the contrast between the dark and the light.  On to the feet, I got these shoes from Zara in my recent overindulgent online shopping spree, a post about my finds is soon to follow.  Can you believe that these babies were only $19.99, I couldn't believe it and I had to have them, okay I probably didn't HAVE to have them but in my world I did.  They're quite tall, even for me but nothing I can't handle.  The platform is super comfy, the only thing is that my toes went a little numb from time to time but that actually happens all the time, I should probably get that checked out.  Really, you can't lose with a look like this, I'm just all about the lines, makes me feel slim and that's important in my book.  I'm crazy like that, sue me.

We've Got Company

Okay, so this post isn't really about style or an outfit, it's just an update on my life.  I recently auditioned for a Modern/Ballet dance company and I got a company position.  It's an unbelievable experience and I am so humbled, I have been dancing my entire life and after college I was worried I wouldn't get to dance as much. I decided that I wanted to dance, had to dance, so I've been auditioning and training all summer.  I've been eating extra healthy and being extra neurotic, it has payed off.  I'm so excited to learn and perform, like more excited than a normal person.  I sign my contract this week and things become official, I also have my first rehearsal tomorrow, amazing.  If you're in the Memphis area or want to visit in September, I'll be having my first show, I'll be keeping everyone posted.  I can't wait to start this journey.

That's me in ze middle, it's from the Hendrix Dance Ensemble Spring Concert, 2012

Maxxed Out

So I like wearing maxis on Fridays, it's my way of going casual but not too casual.  I can't recall when I got this dress, maybe at the very beginning of the summer, it was only $9.99 from Ross and I was in love with the pattern as soon as I saw it.  It's been sitting in my closet for way too long but I finally got around to wearing it.  Since I work in a boring office that doesn't appreciate fashion I had to wear a sweater but that's okay, it's super cold in there.  I shouldn't make these posts when I get off on Fridays, I get super lazy and the sleeping pills kick in. Blah, blah, blah.  I also have Ballet in the morning and I'm so sore so I don't know how that's actually going to happen.

Excuse my face, I didn't put on any makeup, not even mascara
